28 March 2008 what do we mean by "Rollover" in stock market?

28 March 2008 ROLL OVER MEANS CARRY FORWARD OF FUTURE POSITIONS ON MONTHLY EXPIRY TO ANOTHER MONTH EXPIRY

28 March 2008 the last thursday of every month is the settlement day for derivative (options and futures)transactions in the indian stock exchanges.
on that day either you settle the trade or carry or roll over the trade.
rollover can be done only in futures by paying applicable margins.
but option trades need to be settled on the settlement day. no rollover in option trades.
