Stax on freight paid for paddy / rice

13 March 2012 My client is paying frieght for transportation of paddy and rice.

Is it covered under Service Tax Net or exemption under Notification 14/2004 applies to paddy and rice as well.

If any further notification is issued in this regard please metion.

25 March 2012 Service Tax on Freight for paddy and rice and all other food grains and pulses is exempt vide notification no. 04/2010 amending previous notification No. 14/2004 and replacing words " Fruits, Vegetables, eggs or milk”, buy the words
“Fruits, Vegetables, eggs, milk, food grains or pulses”

therefore no service tax.
