can a chartered accountant accept parallel position i.e. tax audit as well as statutory audit ?

Yes, a CA can conduct both statutory audit as well as Tax audit of same organisation.

then do they prepare separate financial statements ? or only depreciation chart will effect

Yes, CA can do both for same company, but financials statement is only one under companies act, he has to make the modifications as per tax audit requirement like depreciation and other disallowance and allowances etc.
