03 May 2012 Speculation Transactions, in case of shares, are such transactions in which delivery of shares is absent - like Intra-day Transactions or Day Trading. Profit or loss is booked only in such transactions in spite of taking/giving delivery of shares.

As a Investor in shares, if you sale shares before holding them for 12 months, the resulting gain/loss will be termed as STCG/STCL.
