Slab rate for the AJP

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
This discussion concerns the correct tax treatment for an Estate of a Deceased person (AJP) filing income tax returns. The user received a demand notice applying the Maximum Marginal Rate (MMR) to the estate's total income and is seeking clarification on whether this is correct and what the appropriate tax rate should be. Advice suggests that MMR might apply if any member of the AJP is an income tax payee.

20 March 2025 we have one AJP in form of Estate of Deceased person. we filed income tax return of estate of deceased person for the F.Y. 2021-22. now we have received Income Tax demand for the same, as income tax department applying MMR on total income of the Estate of Deceased. kindly advise us regarding the whether its Correct or not and what will be the tax rate for the AJP.

21 March 2025 If any of the member of AJP is income tax payee, the MMR rate will apply.

30 September 2025 Good luck....
