Short term capital loss on equity shares

12 August 2011 I suffered Short term losses on equity shares due to crash in market. If I book this short term capital loss this financial year, can I carry forward this loss to be setoff against short term capital gain in next financial year. How long I am allowed to carry forward this loss?
Kindly advise as soon as possible.

return on or before the due date. Capital Loss can be c/fd up to 8 AYs.

15 August 2011 if your books of accounts are not required to get audited, you would have filed your ITR before July 31, 2011.
