Short term capital loss on equity shares

I suffered Short term losses on equity shares due to crash in market. If I book this short term capital loss this financial year, can I carry forward this loss to be setoff against short term capital gain in next financial year. How long I am allowed to carry forward this loss?

For claiming the loss , you have to file the
return on or before the due date. Capital Loss can be c/fd up to 8 AYs.

if your books of accounts are not required to get audited, you would have filed your ITR before July 31, 2011.
