Investor may not go for short sale. He/she has the avenue to short FUTURE in that case.

one of my friend in employment. He has some short sale of shares in the market, whether profit/loss from short sale will be charged under speculation business income?

Yes, the same shall go to SPECULATION income. Add it under income from other sources if you are using itr2.
