Cenvat credit will be allowable only for inputs used in or inrelation to the manufacturing process. Carriage outwards is no way related to the manufacturing process. It starts after the goods have been cleared from the factory hence not allowable,

dear all, kindly go through the judgment of Ambuja Cements (P&H) High Court, 2009. there are some criteria for availment of cenvat credit on outward freight. broadly speaking you can avail credit subject to fulfilment of certain conditions.
