This is chandrasekaran, Just i want to Know, Is it possible avail the service tax input credit from the Invoice, those are Received before the Service Tax Registration, pls Kindly advice me

For Example

Tax Invoice recevied on 15-09-2009

I got the Service tax Registration No. on 12.01.2010

can i avail service tax input credit from the above mentioned tax Invocie.

18 March 2010 As per my knowledge you can't charge the service tax till the time you have not got the ST no. but you need to pay service tax once its been charged by any party and surely you can take the input credit.

19 March 2010 You can not avail benefit of input cenvat credit. Pls. refer Service Tax credit Rules, 2002.
