If the Co-op housing society is collecting maintenance from its members then should the society get the Registration No.

Yes, the housing society is required to get registration under ST provisions as it falls within the meaning of club or association as defined under Section 65(25a) of Finance Act, 1994.
(Further, an exemption to resident welfare associations where the sole criterion for its membership is the residential status of a person in a residential complex or locality subject to the condition that the total consideration received from an Individual member by the said association for providing the said service does not exceed three thousand rupees per month).
