14 May 2013 Hello , Expert , can u please help me to know , i start my company last year , my turnover is more then 18 lak , if i m going to register my firm in service tax , i need to pay service tax on my 18 - 10 = 8lak , because i never charge any service tax from my client , please help me

15 May 2013 Hi Varun,

First of all are you sure that your total turnover consists of taxable services? If yes, you certainly have to pay service tax on 8lacs. However, you may avail the benefit of amnesty scheme introduced on 10th May 2013 and save interest and penalty.

27 June 2013 If you are purchasing and selling goods then no service tax is applicable it is VAT or CST. If you are rendering services then only yes you are liable for service tax. If you have not charges service tax then you have to divide the total sales by 112.36 and multiply by 12.36 it will give you the service tax payable.
