can service tax and vat both be charged on a particular thing.if yes then make me know with a specified section.

yes, both can be charged. It happens generally where there is a combination of goods as well as provision of service. Work contracts are the such example of it where VAT & Service tax are chargeable but at concessional rate

NO, BOTH SERVICE TAX AND VAT CAN NOT BE CHARGED ON SAME TRANSACTION.
