Self-sealing of export consignments

31 October 2014 Dear experts.

Is sealing of export consignments (wired with lead seal and pressed with pliers) is mandatory by exporter himself or central excise officer OR

Consignments can be presented with ARE-1 without putting wire with lead seal and pressed with pliers, so that customs officer at port can do 100% physical examination of the consignments and allow the exports (treated as sealing done by customs officer).

01 November 2014 Any manufacturer-exporter can clear export consignment with self sealing and self certification CBE&C circular No. 736/52/2003-CX dated 11.8.2003.

04 November 2014 Dear experts,

Any provision that without self sealing goods can be cleared from factory and get the consignment physically verified and certified by the customs at the port, before export. Sealing activity shall be done at customs.

Earlier provision was there to get the sealing done by excise officer or customs officer at port.
