21 May 2012 i filled income tax return after due date but before ending asst year. i forgot to claim deduction u/s 80C whole amount due to fiddling mistake while fill up the form online....

now could i rectified now u/s 154 or any other remedy to claim deduction u/s 80C

21 May 2012 Rectification application can be filed only for rectifying mistake apparent from record.

If an assessee has failed to claim a deduction, it cannot be termed as mistake apparent from record.

It amounts to fresh claim and is not allowed u/s 154.

The option is to file a revised return, but since you have filed a belated return, the same cannot be revised.

You can try and file a rectification application. maybe the department will accept it.

However, most probably it will be rejected.

But, there is no harm in trying. File the rectification application and wait.
