Scrutiny under CASS

02 September 2009 Hello,
I have received a notice from Income Tax department u/s 143(2) saying that my case has been selected for Scrutiny through CASS.

This is for the assessment year 2008-2009, the return for which I filed online on 14-July-08.
The notice date is 12-Aug-09.

The notice asks me to appear before the Income Tax office on 15-Sep-09, with a long list of documents.

What should I do? Book a Lawyer/CA or go myself?
Also, u/s 143(2) isn't the notice to be served within 1 year from the month of filing the return?

02 September 2009 notice under 143(2)can be served within 6 months from the end of the financial year in which return was filed, in ur case it expires on 30.09.2009. so notice is in time limit....


further if u think u can defend ur case properly than u can go there with documents asked by ITO
