Will salary arrears from my previous employer(Received after left the job) attract relief u/s.89?

Kindly advice......

16 July 2011 Arrears attract tax only when these are received.

In your case relief can be claimed but due to lowering tax slabs it may not result as
a real relief.

17 July 2011 Yes Paras Sir is right.Any arrears received, it attract tax.If there is any tax benefits by calculating Relief U/s 89 than it is advisable to calculate Relief U/s 89.
