My employer pays us salary by cash in hand, doesn't give on time, sometimes half salary, doesn't give salary slips too, now feared of not paying for next month when I want to quit. I only have offer letter sent via email. No id cards, no proper documents except visiting cards. What to do?

That sounds really tough. Getting paid irregularly, in cash, and without proper salary slips or documentation is a big red flag. Here are some steps you can consider:
Document Everything Keep a record of all salary payments you receive—dates, amounts, and any communication (texts, emails) related to salary or work. Your offer letter is good proof of employment.
Ask Formally for Salary Slips and Payment on Time Send an email or written request to HR or your employer asking for salary slips and timely payment. Keep this communication polite but clear. This creates a paper trail.
Check Labor Laws in Your Area Depending on your country/state, employers are generally required to pay wages on time and provide salary slips. For example, in India, the Payment of Wages Act and Shops & Establishment Acts provide protection.
Raise a Complaint If your employer continues to delay or partially pay, you can approach the labor department or relevant authority to file a formal complaint. Often, such steps push employers to comply.
Before Quitting
Try to clear outstanding salary dues formally with the employer.
Get a written acknowledgment of payments made or pending.
If you fear not getting paid after quitting, consider waiting until your salary is cleared or filing a formal complaint before leaving.
Seek Legal Help if Needed If your salary is consistently delayed and you have no proper documentation, a labor lawyer or union (if applicable) can help protect your rights.
Future Precautions Always try to work for employers who provide proper documentation—offer letters, ID cards, salary slips—to avoid such problems.
