First off all thanks for the reply. I have to open the Current account in the ICICI bank & there requirement is ST-2 should be in the name of the firm . But I have applied ST-1 in the name of the Prop. and ST-2 Is issued . Right know what is the better option to change the name of the ST-2 from name of the Prop. to the name to Proprietorship firm. Pls reply as soon as possible.

In the case of a proprietorship, there is no legal distinction between the proprietor and the proprietorship firm. However, for practical purposes, especially for banks (like ICICI), ST-2 must reflect the trade name (i.e. the name of the firm), not just the individual proprietor's name.
โ Here's what you can do: ๐ Amend Your ST-2 Registration You need to amend your Service Tax registration (ST-2) to reflect the proprietorship firm name (trade name).
๐ Steps to Amend ST-2: Login to ACES portal (https://www.aces.gov.in).
Go to REG โ Amend ST1.
Under the section for Trade Name, enter your proprietorship firm's name (e.g., M/s Shree Enterprises).
Submit the amendment request with supporting documents, such as:
PAN card of proprietor
Aadhaar card
Address proof
Proof of business name usage (like electricity bill, rent agreement, or letterhead with firm name)
Once approved, you'll get a revised ST-2 showing:
Legal name: Proprietorโs name
Trade name: Proprietorship firm's name
๐ Notes: You do not need to cancel and reapply for ST registration. Just amend it.
Most banks require the trade name on ST-2 to match the name under which youโre opening the account.
While the ST-2 legally belongs to the individual, the trade name is crucial for operational clarity.
