You can revise your tax return after the due date until 31st December 2024 for AY 2024-25, but you cannot change your tax regime. Recent changes mean the rebate for short-term capital gains (STCG) under Section 111a is not available in either the old or new tax regime. If your return was filed before these changes and showed no tax payable, the CPC may still raise a demand or process it as is, though no penalty is expected.

There are many assesses who are in same boat. None knows what will be stand of CPC. Either it will cleared as it is, or raise demand. No penalty would be charged.

Whenever the CPC processes the returns whether they are filed prior to 5th July 24 the rebate is not going to be allowed. Even if some returns are processed before 5th July and a rebate is allowed may be rectified u/s 154 and demand may be raised.
