Return uploading error

29 August 2013 I am trying to upload service tax return ,but it shows following error:-
"Uploaded XML structure is not valid, please verify the structure or log a complaint to service desk. In case you are uploading xml from return period October-March 2013 onwards, please make sure you have downloaded correct offline utility/xsd specific from October-March 2013 onwards."
I download new utility & tried to upload again but it shows same msg. Please guide me as early as possible.

30 August 2013 Hi im also getting the same error since yesterday ie from 29/08/2013.

anybody knows the solution or has uploaded the st3 return., please answer.

21 July 2025 This error usually means that the XML file you’re trying to upload does not conform to the expected schema for the Service Tax return period you’re filing for.

Here are a few things you can try to fix this:

Make sure you are using the latest offline utility provided by the Service Tax department for the correct return period (Oct 2012 to March 2013 in your case). Sometimes the portal updates the schema, so re-download the latest utility from the official site.

Check if your XML file is generated by the latest utility itself — if you generated the XML in an older version, it might not be compatible.

Validate your XML file with the XSD schema: The offline utility usually has a ‘validate’ button to check if the XML is structured properly.

Clear your browser cache or try a different browser to upload.

If problem persists, raise a ticket with the service desk as the error message suggests, giving full details including the utility version and the XML file.

Many users faced similar issues when the portal updated their schema or offline utility. You might want to check the service tax forums or the official site announcements for any patches or fixes.
