08 May 2014 we had filed a belated return of our client for FY 2012-13 on 31st march 2014 without paying the whole tax. Now we have paid the whole tax. Return cannot be revised since it was belated. What shall we do in order to avoid interest and penalty?

09 May 2014 filing tax return without paying whole of tax makes it non-est under section 139(9). income tax department will issue notice for payment of taxes and you shall have 15 days to make the payment. if you make the payment in advance, once the notice comes, return can be suitably modified to include the balance payment.

10 May 2014 Thank You Sir.

Also Sir, if that return happens to be a belated return and we have already deposited the tax, so what is the procedure for the same?
