Retrospective amendment refers to a change in law which is applicable from an earlier date.
For example if a law is amended on 29 September 2013 but is made applicable from 1 April 2013, then it would be referred to as retrospective amendment. However if the amendment is made applicable from 29 September 2013, it shall be referred to as prospective amendment.
