Rental Income from commercial property

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
If you've registered for GST, even if your annual rental income from commercial property is below the ₹20 lakh threshold, you are generally required to charge GST to your tenants. Voluntary GST registration means you must adhere to all GST regulations, including paying the tax. While there's no direct exemption based on income once registered, consulting your legal advisor might reveal specific solutions.

02 January 2020 I have already taken GST registration and my rental income is less than 20 lakhs per annum. Is it necessary to charge gst from tenant just because i have taken gst registration...??????

02 January 2020 Theoretically Yes. There is no direct exemption from payment of GST upto threshold limit. The exemption is provided through exemption from registration. Once a person voluntary registers himself, he is required to follow all GST procedures, and that includes payment of duty. Your legal advisor can try to find some way out.

03 January 2020 Yes you have to collect and pay GST on rent letout on commercial property
