16 January 2017 Lineal Ascendant means your parents, grandparents, great grand parents from maternal or paternal side
Lineal Descendant means your children, grand children, great grand children and so on

17 January 2017 The definition must be referred from which statute you are looking, whether Income tax or Companies Act. The expert has given right example for your query.

Thus, lineal ascendant may not merely include father, mother, grandfather and grandmother, but also great grandfather and great grandmother and so on. Similarly, the lineal descendant will include not only children and grand children but also great grand children and their children as well.
