22 August 2012 Dear Experts,
I want to get service tax registration.
In this regard I have following queries.

1. What is is the web address to apply online.

2. What is the government registration fee and do I have to deposit it through challan before applying registration.

3. What is the procedure at local office after applying online, and whom to meet at local office.

4. What are the enclsers to enclosed with hard copy submitting at local office.

5. How long time local office takes to grant registration certificate after submission of hard copy.

1. the web address is www.aces.gov.in
2. No fee is required to pay for Service Tax registration
3. After applying online submit the documents mentioned in the receipt at service tax office.
4. ST 2 is issued within 15 days.

22 August 2012 Should I go at local office with double copy of printouts ( one for submission and second one to take their acknowlegement on that) or they will issue acknowlegement slip.

22 August 2012 The expert's reply is correct.

After online registration, you have to meet the divisional AC/DC and they will issue the certificate within a day, if all the details are correctly given. Then you have to meet the range superintendent (service tax) for further action.
