01 March 2011 I am a commission agent in housing finance industry. My earning is just going to be about Rs 10 lakh

Following are my queries:
1>If it is less than 10 do I need to take any action

2> If it crosses 10, than do i need to take any action

3>What are the steps that I need to remember in future for any action below 10 lakh or above it

02 March 2011 Hi,

If your taxable services exceeds 10Lacs in previous year you need to register for service tax.

In your case if your services have crossed 10 L means you need to register with service tax department in 30 days.

If your services crosses 10L means 1st step you need to register for ST and start collecting ST and remit to government accordingly.

02 March 2011 Last year my form 16 A WAS OF 10.64 LAKHS. SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY SERVICE TAX FOR IT.IF YES THEN HOW MUCH.(I AM COMMISSION AGENT IN HOUSING FINANCE INDUSTRY)

02 March 2011 Hi,

If your services have exceeded 10L you need to register for ST with in 30 days and charge ST on 64,000/- and remit to ST Department.

As the financial year is already over by almost by 11months. you can register now and start charging service tax accordingly.

By the way what is your service tax turnover for the current year?
