Regarding information about tds return

08 January 2013 One of our client had filed TDS return for F. Y 2011-12, now it need to be revised due to some correction in it. But to revise a return we need consolidated file for which information is not available with client, because of which consolidated file cannot be downloaded. Is there any way to retrieve these information from NSDL or any other site.

20 July 2025 Hey! About your query on revising the TDS return for FY 2011-12 without the consolidated file — here’s what you can do:

No Direct Retrieval from NSDL:
NSDL (or TRACES portal) doesn’t provide a way to download the original consolidated file once it’s been submitted unless you have the original submission details.
Try TRACES Portal:
If the client is registered on TRACES (https://www.tdscpc.gov.in/), they can log in and download the TDS return file (consolidated statement) or Acknowledgment for the quarter(s) filed.
This file can help you see what was originally filed, which can be useful for preparing the revised return.
Contact TDS CPC or NSDL Helpdesk:
You can write or call the TDS CPC (Centralized Processing Cell) or NSDL helpline requesting assistance in retrieving the consolidated file or summary details. Sometimes, they may provide the data or guidance.
If Nothing Works, Reconstruct Data:
If the file is not retrievable, you may need to reconstruct the TDS return data from your client's books, payment challans (Challan 281), and TDS certificates issued (Form 16/16A).
Filing Revised Return:
When filing the revised return, you need to ensure the data matches your revised correction.
Revised returns can be filed from TRACES portal or via authorized TDS software.
Summary:

Contact NSDL/TDS CPC helpdesk for assistance.
Otherwise, reconstruct from internal records.
