This query is : Resolved

24 August 2014 Hi everyone.....!! i lost my exemption in sfm Ca final exams in may 2014 now i wnt to know if i go for frst group again in nov 2014 and suppose i got more than 60% marks in any paper of first group then can i avail the exemption again.... some of my CA friends are telling dat once you lost your exemption then again you can not avail the exemption in the same group.. plz. give ur replies m tottally confused...urgent..

24 August 2014 Yes you can avail the exemption again and there is no doubt in that. In other words exemption earned in Nov 2014 attempt can be availed in May 2015.

Your friends are also right as exemption earned by you in Nov 2013 attempt can be used in May 2014 attempt only which you had lost.

I believe my above reply is correct. However I would request you to wait for the opinion of other experts.

Thanks

25 August 2014 Sir it means if in nov 2014 i again give first group and got more than 60% marks in any exams then i can avail that exemption...right sir..?

20 July 2025 Yes, exactly! If you appear for the first group in November 2014 and score 60% or more in any paper, you can avail the exemption again for that paper in your subsequent attempts (like May 2015).

The exemption is valid only for the next immediate attempt, so if you lose the exemption in one attempt, you can regain it again by scoring 60% or more in the same paper in a future attempt.

Your CA friends are correct about the exemption validity for just the next attempt — but you are also right that you can get it back again by re-scoring 60% in that paper.

So yes, you have the chance to regain your exemption by performing well again in Nov 2014.
