You're absolutely right to ask this — using outdated ICAI CPT study material can lead to confusion, especially in subjects like Economics, Mercantile Law, and General Knowledge, where data and laws are updated frequently.
✅ Here's how to proceed: 📘 1. Can you use March 2015 study material for June 2017 CPT? Not advisable, at least not exclusively. While the core concepts in subjects like Accounting and Quantitative Aptitude may not change much, subjects like:
Mercantile Law – subject to amendments in laws Economics (especially Macroeconomics) – based on latest data, budgets, inflation, monetary policy, etc. …require updated content.
So, using March 2015 books in 2017 without cross-checking changes could put you at risk of studying outdated info.
📥 2. Where can you get the latest ICAI study material? Go to the ICAI’s Board of Studies (BOS) Knowledge Portal: 🔗 https://www.icai.org/post.html?post_id=10146 (link may change — search “ICAI BOS Knowledge Portal”)
There, you’ll find:
PDFs of latest study materials Supplementary materials Revision test papers (RTPs) Mock tests Important announcements and updates 📌 3. How to use your 2015 material wisely: You can still use it for base preparation, especially:
Accounts – concepts mostly unchanged Math/Statistics – very little variation But cross-check these sections: Economics (especially government budgets, monetary/fiscal policy updates) Law (for amendments and sections) ✅ 4. Recommendation: Download updated modules from BOS portal Purchase hard copies if you prefer reading offline (from ICAI regional offices or authorized stores) Use your 2015 books for revision, not for first-time learning of dynamic topics
