Refund wrongly credited to wrong a/c.

05 May 2013 While filing ITR assessee entered his bank a/c. no. wrong. so that his refund of Rs. 45000 credited by income ta department through ECS to that wrong account no.

and that third person withdrawn that amount from his account and denying to pay it to assessee.

How the ITD credited refund to wrong account no. ? Name of the account holder is totally different from assessee.

What to do in this case. How the assessee get his refund.

06 May 2013 Please contact the CPC with this information. If need be you may file a written complain with the police as well.
Ideally this should not have happened, so you may want to verify what the assessee is saying.

20 June 2013 This is your mistake and CPC cannot do anything as the amount has been credited. In the records of the Income Tax Department it has been paid so nothing can be done. You can contact the person and ask him to pay the refund amount. If he refuses you can file an FIR with the Police but before going to police tell the person who has encased that refund voucher that you are filing an FIR and recovery case against him in the court. I think he will settle to pay you in 2 or 3 installments. Try it.
