Reduced refund

This query is : Resolved

20 June 2011 Dear all,
last year i filed an e-return.. refund claimed Rs 19000, refund actually received Rs 3000.. there was no receipt of notification u/s 143(1).. what steps i need to take? can receipt of refund be on installment basis? the only source of income was interest on FD.. nd TDS on same being 19000, which was claimed as refund as GTI after Chapter VI deduction was less than 160000.. pls help..

20 June 2011 You will receive an intimation u/s 143(1) from the dept which shows the manner of computation of tax payable. You can even collect it from the dept.
Many times the form 26AS generated in NSDL does not show the actual TDS. This might be the reason for lower refund.
Refund cannot be on installment basis.
