Dear Sir
I would like to know whether its mandatory now to maintain record of transport copy of every purchase or sale invoice under excise rules?

For Central Excise, even now the manufacturers are sending the invoices in duplicate and the transporter copy is safely handed over to the unit for availing the CENVAT.
But it is not mandatory to keep duplicate copy for every purchase invoice. If it is lost, based on the original invoices cenvat credit is eligible both for materials input and service inputs.
