This discussion clarifies whether an individual working remotely from India for a Thai company requires RBI permission under FEMA 1999. Experts confirm that no specific permission is needed for the employer to pay salary, nor for the employee to receive it via electronic transfer into their Indian bank account. This applies even if the salary is initially deposited in Thailand before being remitted to India.

Respected Experts, Kindly let me know that if a person performs his job (Work from home in India) for a foreign company situated in Thailand and till COVID-19 he is allowed to work from India only and his salary if deposited in Thailand and remitted to India which he can withdraw from HDFC bank . Will he or his employer is required to take permission under FEMA 1999 or any other Act for the above ? Thanks in Advance
