10 July 2011 Since 1993 we were residing in Kalyan East. We had a ration card of that area. In 2008 we shifted to Thane and we are staying in a rented accomodation. I would like to know the procedure for transfer the ration card to the Thane municipal corporation. or is it that we have to delete our name from the register in kalyan and apply for a new ration card in thane? if that is the case pls mention the procedure for the same.

10 July 2011 surrender the card for shifting, at ration office of place where you left (kalyan), they will issue you memo in name of card holders which should be submitted to thane ration office, where you will get new ration cards.

20 July 2025 Here’s the usual procedure for transferring a ration card when you move from one area to another (like from Kalyan to Thane):

Surrender your old ration card at the Ration Office or Municipal Corporation office of the area you are leaving (Kalyan in your case). They will issue you a surrender certificate or memo in the name of the cardholders.
Take this surrender certificate/memo to the Ration Office or the Municipal Corporation office of the new area (Thane).
Submit the surrender memo along with the required documents (proof of residence, identity proof, etc.) at the Thane Ration Office.
Apply for a new ration card in Thane under the local jurisdiction. After verification, the new ration card will be issued.
