what is provisioning and scheduling in case of accounting?

Provisioning means estimating an expense which was incurred but the invoice is not recd for the same...
For Ex: For 31st December 2008, U incurred some repairs expenses. U do not know the exact amount & U do not recd the bill also. So u will provide expense for the 31st December 2008 by estimation. Estimation may be based on precious bills, etc...
