Quarterly breakup of capital gains - how to enter loss in a quarter

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
The AY 22-23 offline ITR utility has limitations when entering capital losses for a specific quarter, as it doesn't accept negative numbers. If you have a loss in one quarter but an overall yearly gain, the recommended approach is to enter zero for that quarter's loss and adjust it against a positive figure in a subsequent quarter. If the loss occurs in the last two quarters, you'll need to adjust it against gains from earlier quarters.

21 July 2022 The AY 22-23 ITR offline utility won't allow entering negative numbers or numbers in brackets to signify a capital loss in a given quarter. The overall yearly number is positive (gain) but for a specific quarter there is loss. Can anyone suggest how to handle this situation

21 July 2022 In the specific quarter enter zero and adjust the loss in the next quarter positive figure.

22 July 2022 Thank, you. Unfortunately, here the loss is in last 2 quarters. I guess the only option is to adjust in earlier quarter/s then.

22 July 2022 Yes you are right adjust in earlier quartets.
