Proffessional Tax

05 May 2010 I am working in MNC Co. on contractual basis. In my salary calculated as a proffessional fees and deducted TDS @ 10%.
no P.T. deducted in my sal.

Whether the P.T. are payable or not?

05 May 2010 professional tax is a state level tax to be levied on salaried employees, since you are not an employee so no professional tax is applicable to you.

05 May 2010 thanks sir, one of my friend who is in C.A. final, he told me that whether company is not deduct the P.T. then you are liable to deposit the P.T.

05 May 2010 P.T is levied by state. In case, the state levies tax on the professional service, then you are liable to deposit P.T on your own.
