29 December 2009 Say, I have a newly setup entity / branch. If i apply for professional Tax registeration number in any state (say on 1st Jan 2010), how much time will it take to get the PT Registeration number.

Further, till the time i receive the PT Registeration number, where shall i keep the PT amount collected from employees?

Kindly reply ASAP.

30 December 2009 I want to know the maximum possible time. It may be 4 any state, say Maharashta & Tamil Nadu.

02 January 2010 Registration under PT is hardly matter of week or so. You can deposit PT Challan by mentioning "PT Registration applied for" in the column of PT Registration number.
