Say, I have a newly setup entity / branch. If i apply for professional Tax registeration number in any state (say on 1st Jan 2010), how much time will it take to get the PT Registeration number.
Further, till the time i receive the PT Registeration number, where shall i keep the PT amount collected from employees?
Kindly reply ASAP.

I want to know the maximum possible time. It may be 4 any state, say Maharashta & Tamil Nadu.

Registration under PT is hardly matter of week or so. You can deposit PT Challan by mentioning "PT Registration applied for" in the column of PT Registration number.
