18 December 2014 Hello to all Learned friends,

Is it necessary for a practicing CA. to communicate with other practicing CA for taking up work of returns which was previously done by other CA.

Please note question asked is regarding taking up work of return like VAT,Income tax etc & not for taking up audit under respective acts. In case of Audit it is mandatory to communicate with previous auditor whether same principle apply to returns too?

18 December 2014 it will be a healthy practice to do so..so that u may get few new insights also if prv ca is good.

18 December 2014 Moral legality Versus Legal Morality.

As per ethical standards as laid down by ICAI, it is NOT required to communicate in the cases cited by you.

But as Mr. Tushar has rightly pointed out, it will be a healthy practice to communicate with the previous CA.
