What is the meaning of the term 'produce or cause to be produced evidence' used in the Notices and Laws. Confusion is in the 'cause to be produced'???

Evidence is of two types i.e. documentary and oral.
Documentary evidence means all the documents including electronic records 'produced' before the court for its inspection.
The term 'cause to be produced' is relating oral evidence i.e. 'giving reason' at the time recording an oral statement, which might be relating to proving a fact.
