Procedure of online rectification u/s. 154

28 July 2011 Dear Sir,

I have e-filed ITR-4 for AY-2010-11 and received intimation u/s. 143(1). While making the assessment by the CPC, they have not credit the self assessment tax Rs. 8475/- as a result they have raised demand of Rs. 8475/-.

How can I apply for rectification online u/s. 154? Pls. let me know the procedure of the same.

28 July 2011 Check your Form No 26AS for correct credit. If it's ok follow the steps-

You have to reload your corrected XML file if certain rectifications are necessary from your end. (in this case your original xml file will do- if it is correct)

You have to take the following information from the intimation-
1. Communication reference No
2.Date of Order
3. Item No 31.. Aggregate Income Tax Liability (As computed U/s 143(1))
4. Item No 36...Total Tax Credit (As computed U/s 143(1))

Log in to your a/c at e-filing site.
Go to Rectification Option. Select upper option.
Fill up all these details 1-4.
The site may or may not open. Don't be nervous, try every now and then, it opens at its will.

Visit the site thoroughly.

Where it is asked that in which data you require rectification.
Form the given 3 options you have to select 1.
In your case you may select CPC data Correction like option.

Other things are self explanatory.
You may write your comments in brief at a particular place known like -reasons for rectification.
