Procedure of appearing ipcc exam

hi.. I have completed my b.com and planning to appear for IPCC exam. I have gone through the procedure from the icai website but I am not clear with the 9 months of practical training and 8 months of study course. As far as I know 9 months is a training under a CA firm but what is "8 months study course"??
According to my knowledge:-
1) ITT and orientation to be done on one registered centre.
2) articleship can be done anywhere in India under a CA firm.
3) is the 8 months study course a compulaory coaching .
pls correct me if I'm mistaken.
provide my detail information.
