helo sir , i want to know whether a 4 or 5 CAs can practise together by forming a CA firm ,as well as as their respective prop. concerns simultaneously??

Agree. even two members can form a partnership firm.
Regarding Indiavidual firms, at one time ur one firm will work.. It is possible that ur individual firm will join and can become partners in CA firm.. from that date ur partnership firm will exist.. and when u want to discontinue..then can leave the partnership firm and ur name of the Individual firm will be saved by the Institute but only for 3 years.
i.e If any time u descntinue from the partnership firm within 3 years u can use the name of ur prop. firm after the discountinuation form partnership firm.

so is it not possible to apply for bank audits or any other work under both the names?means as a prop and in the name of the firm?

No its not possible to apply from Both means. Also, if u merge ur prop. in the partnership..then whatever u do is of the firm...ur prop..doesn't exist from that day.
