09 November 2012 Hi, Does anyone know bank branches that collect physical payment of service tax, because one of my friends is not able to pay through e-payment by his bank. He is not willing to open an account to just pay ST. He has been running around blindly so I thought some could help from this forum. Appreciate any help.

ASSESSEE CAN MAKE THE PAYMENT THRU G.A.R -7 CHALLAN .....

AT THE TIME OF MAKING THE PAYMENT THE BANK SHOULD STAMP ACKNOWLEDGEMENT GIVING CIN ----CHALLAN IDENTIFICATION NUMBER . THIS CIN IS 20 CHARACTERS OF :

1. FIRST 7 IS THE BSR CODE

2. THEN THE DATE FORMAT

3. SERIAL NUMBER .......................
THIS CIN HAS TO BE QUOTED IN THE SERVICE TAX RETURN ......

THERE ARE 2 COUNTERFOILS OF GAR 7 CHALLAN ONE PART IS TAKEN OFF AND GIVEN BACK TO YOU .....

ANOTHER PART IS BEEN KEPT BY THE BANK .....
GAR 7 CHALLAN CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM THE WEBSITE OF CBEC .GOV.IN .....
