Where exactly has it been mentioned that financial statements should be prepared for the period April to March??

Companies Act, Income Tax Act etc stipulate return should be filed for the period Apr-Mar

Companies act and Income tax act clearly defining the financial year is April- March . so need to prepare April to March only
