02 July 2009 Can i(individual) pay my self asst tax via cheque/challan? or when it is compulsory to pay tax online?

You can pay your self assessment tax by cheque/ cash if you are not the proprietor of such firm whose accounts are required to be audited u/s. 44AB of the income tax act in the previous financial year. If the sales are below 40 lacs or the gross receipt is below 10 lacs in previous financial year then you can pay S.A. Tax by cheque/cash. Otherwise online payment is mandatory.
