Payment of excise duty on sale of scrap

18 December 2013 My employer is a power generating co and not eligable to take cenvat credit.we have sold scrap of various material on which no cenvat crdit was taken and not paid central excise duty.We received a nitice from central excise departmrnt to pay excise duty on scrap sale. pl advice should we pay duty on that scrap on which we havr not taken cenvat credit

20 December 2013 No need to pay excise duty on scrap if you are not registered with central excise and not paying duty. you should consult with any professional.
