06 April 2012 Dear Sir,
We have to pay excise duty of march in 31.03.2012. but due to insufficient fund we have not paid, whether we can file the return without paying the duty on 10.04.2012. we are planning to pay the duty after 10.04.2012

06 April 2012 Dear Panduranga,

Yes, you can file a return without sufficient balance is not your account. Currently, there is no system lock. You will get a red mark error but allow to save and file the return.

During scrutiny of the return in Range office, you will be asked to pay the duty alonwith interest @ 18% P.A. through PLA and give an intimation to Excise for the same.

Hope, this should not be your third incidence to aviod SCN against you.
