Hi
I need some advice... One of my clients has having very old outstanding demand for the AY 2011-12 and his interest accrued is more than his outstanding demand. He wants to close the matter but he didn't have any documents (ITR return for the related year, Notice copy). He just have copy of Form 16 with him. Pls, advise how to get the old returns and notice copy from the department as it is also not showing in the eportal.

You can contact the jurisdiction ITO for any details relating to the demand. It will not be available online.

How to contact jurisdiction ITO ? Already sent a email to the concerned Assessing officer but only standard reply got to check portal, Pls guide and Thanks.

You will have to personally visit & request your ITO at his office. Submit application in writing.

Sir...one more thing..do client need to visit personally or we can visit on his behalf? Is it possible to contact any ITO office locally or need to go only concerned Jurisdiction ITO office as the said client AO is located outside city.

The old data would be available at the concerned office only. Any person capable of handling the matter, having authority letter of the client can visit the jurisdictional ITO. Its tedious job requires full patience and energy. We personally have bad experience of the additions made during AY 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11. Unless you have high demand better to pay it off and forget once for all.
