24 February 2015 Dear Sir,
My Brother received a notice under sec139(9),For ASS Yr 2014-15,that his return defective.While filing return instead of taking salary income he considered it as Professional Income.What are all possibilities to rectify the return.And is there any need to submit request letter to AO regarding these Rectification

24 February 2015 Rectify the defect(revise the return) within 15 days of receipt of notice. The rectification is in reply to the notice so attach a covering letter, requesting the AO to accept the rectification.

U could go ahead and file revised return subject to the original return was before due date.
U could also file a rectification of the return online instead of revising.
